Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 4) — Former president and speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has filed her certificate of candidacy for a fourth term in the House of Representatives, her son Rep. Mikey Arroyo confirmed on Monday.

She seeks to replace Mikey as representative of the second district of Pampanga. The COC was filed by a proxy on Oct. 1.

Arroyo served as the district’s representative for three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2019. After the term ended, she was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as his adviser on Clark Flagship Programs and Projects.

Meanwhile, Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, Arroyo’s predecessor as speaker, filed his certificate of candidacy on Monday for his final term as the representative of Davao del Norte’s first district.

Arroyo took over the speakership following the controversial ouster of Alvarez during the 17th Congress.
