Islamabad, Pakistan – The U.S. and Iran were to hold negotiations in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Saturday to end their six-week-old war, although Tehran threw the talks into doubt by saying they could not begin without commitments on Lebanon and sanctions. The U.S. delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance and including President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, was on its way to Islamabad after a refuelling stop in Paris. The Iranian delegation, led by ‌parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, arrived on Friday.

Ramil Madriaga a ‘Trojan horse,’ may backfire on Duterte critics – lawyer

Metro Manila, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte’s lawyer Paolo Panelo described self-confessed Duterte aide Ramil Madriaga as a “Trojan horse” and even a potential “star witness” for the vice president, saying his testimony could backfire against the impeachment proponents. Speaking ahead of the April 14 House impeachment hearing, Panelo said the Duterte camp is confident Madriaga’s testimony will collapse under scrutiny. “In fact, the analogy that I like to use is, he’s like a Trojan horse entering the city of Troy… if they want to bring the Trojan horse… we won’t stand in their way,” Panelo said.

Metro Manila, Philippines – Ombudsman Boying Remulla said his office will subpoena the statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) of House of Representatives members, issuing an ultimatum for House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil to comply or face suspension. In a press briefing on Monday, April 6, Remulla said his office will formally request the SALN of House lawmakers, the secretaries general and deputy secretaries general for the last decade. He slammed Garafil for supposedly defying a previous subpoena, in relation to the multibillion-peso flood control scandal investigation.
